ORGAN RESTORATION
The main organ and its smaller companion in the transept were a creation of the Jesse Woodbury Company of Boston built at the close of the 19th century. It consists of four tiered manuals each with sixty notes. The fourth manual controls the petite organ in the transept. The organ has 59 stops and 2633 pipes. The baffles are pneumatic and electrified. In 1941 the manuals were replaced by a console from Austin Organs of Hartford Connecticut. In 1997, the organ was partially restored by Richard Hurley at a cost of $120,000.
